Sheldon, Iowa — Each year, the Carpentry program at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon builds a house that is then sold at auction.
NCC Carpentry Instructor Ryan Cannoy says this year’s auction will be taking place this weekend.
Cannoy says NCC students have been building houses for about 50-years.
He says the students have been working on the house since last fall.
Cannoy describes the house that will be auctioned Saturday.
He says the money raised with the auction of each year’s house is primarily used to cover the cost of the home’s materials.
Cannoy says he believes the finished product speaks well of the college’s carpentry program, and the students in that program.
Again, NCC will sell the Carpentry program house for 2018 this Saturday morning, June 16th. The auction begins at 9:30, with an open house beginning at 8:00 Saturday morning.
