Sheldon, Iowa — Commencement exercises at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon (NCC) will be held on Friday, May 16th, 2025.
NCC officials tell us there are 293 graduates in the Spring 2025 class, which is just one student shy of the spring graduation record of 294, set in 2024.
They tell us the Health Programs Commencement Ceremony, including the Associate Degree Nursing Pinning and Practical Nursing Pinning, will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the Northwest Iowa Lifelong Learning and Recreation Center (LLRC) on NCC’s campus.
The Student Keynote Speaker is Danae Thoene, Health Information Technology graduate.
The Outstanding Student Leadership Award will be presented by Nicholas Wyatt, Coordinator of Residence Life and Student Activities.
NCC officials tell us that the presentation of candidates for graduation will be made by Leah Murphy, Executive Dean of Student and Academic Services, and Kevin Miller, Associate Dean of Health. Degrees and diplomas will be conferred by Adam Besaw, President of the NCC Board of Trustees.
The afternoon Spring Commencement Ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m., honoring all other program graduates. This ceremony will also take place in the LLRC.
The Commencement Address will be given by Dora Pervan, an Associate of Arts graduate.
The Alumnus of the Year Award will be presented to John Emerick by Morgan Granstra, Coordinator of Foundation and Alumni Relations.
The presentation of candidates for graduation will be made by Leah Murphy, Executive Dean of Student and Academic Services, and Sarah Breems-Diekevers, Associate Dean of Arts, Science, Business and Transitions. Degrees and diplomas will be conferred by Adam Besaw, President of the NCC Board of Trustees.
NCC officials say both ceremonies will include a welcome and closing remarks from Dr. John Hartog III, President of NCC.
