Sheldon, Iowa — Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon has been ranked in the Top 100 on wallethub.com’s list of 2016’s Best & Worst Community Colleges. NCC is ranked, by far, the highest Iowa community college, rated at #52 on the wallethub.com list.
The website says they ranked the community colleges by comparing 821 institutions across, what they consider to be, three key dimensions, including: 1) Cost & Financing, 2) Education Outcomes, and 3) Career Outcomes. They state that Cost & Financing, Education Outcomes, and Career Outcomes each account for 1/3 of the score for each school.
While NCC was the only Iowa school to hit the Top 100, the other Iowa community colleges ranked in the Top 250 include: Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, at #136, North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City at #162, Northeast Iowa Community College at #194, Southeast Iowa Community College at Burlington at #234, Iowa Lakes Community College at Estherville at #236, and Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo at #250.
When ranked by state, Iowa’s Community Colleges are ranked at #15. Other Midwestern states in the Top 20 are South Dakota at #1, North Dakota at #3, Wisconsin at #8, and Nebraska at #13.
