Sheldon, Iowa — A Northwest Iowa Community College student has claimed 1st place in the State SkillsUSA competition.
NCC Production Welding student, Grace Bennett, placed 1st in Welding Sculpture at the State SkillsUSA competition and now advances to the national competition to be held June 19-23 in Atlanta, GA.
Bennett has been hired by Sudenga Industries of George, and the company has agreed to pay for her travel expenses so that she is able to attend the national competition next month. Bennett plans to continue her education in the Advanced Welding Technology program in the fall.
SkillsUSA is a student run organization that promotes professional development, community service, and technical training. SkillsUSA offers many opportunities for growth through career competitions. Students can compete at the local level and the top winners then move onto the state competition. State winners go on the national competition: The SkillsUSA Championships.
