Sheldon, Iowa — Apparently Sheldon’s police dog is well-loved.
Two recent fundraisers for Sheldon Police K9, Balin, have raised hundreds of dollars.
Sheldon City Manager Sam Kooiker tells us that the recent fundraisers have totaled nearly $500 for the K9 program.
City officials say the Doggie Dip — that’s the annual dog day at the Sheldon Outdoor Aquatic Center — netted about $200 for Balin. And this past weekend’s Celebration Days Burnout Contest snagged him $297.

A little later in the month, on Tuesday, September 23rd, the Household Hazardous Materials Trailer will be in the parking lot north of the Library. City officials say this is a great opportunity to get rid of old paints, varnishes, batteries, etc. It’s mostly free except for a small charge for dumping latex paints.
