New Hospital, Clinic Basically Finished; Ribbon Cutting, Open House Planned

Rock Rapids, Iowa — The new $28 million Avera Merrill Pioneer Health Campus in Rock Rapids is ready for occupancy, and a ribbon cutting, open house, and first day of operation are all scheduled within a month of today’s date.

That information is from Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital board president Jim Vander Woude. He gives us an update.

He tells us what Avera staff have been up to since they were able to start using the facility.

Vander Woude tells us about the ribbon cutting and an open house, which will follow. He says the ribbon cutting is scheduled for Thursday, April 11th.

He gives us a few more details.

The transfer of license from the existing hospital and clinic to the new facility takes place on May 1st. Vander Woude says the landscaping and continuation of the paving of the main entrance to Twelfth Avenue were not able to be completed in the fall, due to weather, so those projects will be done this spring.
