New Talk Show Set To Begin Thursday On KIWA AM 1550 and FM 100.7

Sheldon, Iowa — A brand new talk show is coming to KIWA-AM 1550 and FM 100.7. It’s called “Markley, Van Camp, & Robbins.”

We had a chance to talk to one of the hosts, Jamie Markley, who tells us about the show he hosts with David Van Camp and Scott Robbins.

(as said) “People describe it as entertaining… common sense… We certainly like to have fun. We’re looking at news of the day and probably having a unique take on it. That’s what people tell us. Our unique take is… I suppose… three regular guys just like buddies that you would have talking about what’s going on. It helps that David Van Camp has a news background. He knows exactly what tories are covered, how it’s covered, and can sort of bring that credibility to the show. Scott Robbins spent years in top 40 radio before he switched over to talk about 20 years ago or so and I was in rock radio before I switched to talk in 2004.”

He says they have a unique combination.

(as said) “Scott and I were kind of brought up learning to try to entertain people on the radio. And David came from the news side. So together we feel like we kind of have that covered. So we’re just trying to… as we say a lot of times make sense of it all and have fun at the same time.”

Markley tells us about their viewpoint.

(as said) “We joke around and say we’re three recovering liberals. I think we all at least in our 20s were left of center. Robbins was the first that really started getting more conservative ideas throughout the mid-aughts I guess and I would have said I was pretty moderate ten years ago or so and I think David would say the same thing… I don’t want to speak for him, but…”

But Markley says certain things have pushed them more conservative in the last five or six years.

(as said) “Certainly from 2015 on, watching news every day and watching what sort of spin national news would put on things… it got worse and worse it seemed like if not every month every week… news organizations just putting out blatant lies and we were kind of… you feel green… a little bit… or like or naive… like does this happen all the time or is this just now and the more that you live your own life and you see which policies are best for the public and what really are not, I think we all ended up in the same conservative boat. I think we would all consider ourselves… at the very least, pretty conservative.”

Markley tells us you’ll hear some stories on their program that you won’t hear about elsewhere, and the inverse is also true.

(as said) “Just because national news may cover something that they feel is really important… A lot of times we try to ask is this important to our friends outside this business like your friends that are working construction or working in real estate or you know working in a factory gig whatever it might be? And what are the stories interesting to just everyday people and that’s what we’re looking out for… what we’re trying to cover. “

The Markley, Van Camp, & Robbins Show premiers Thursday afternoon on KIWA — 1550 AM and 100.7 FM shortly after 11 a.m. and will run until 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Sunday mornings from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.. The show replaces the Rush Limbaugh program which had been airing on KIWA since 1994.
