Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council met this past Wednesday they approved a pair of ordinance changes affecting garbage hauling in town.
Sheldon City Manager Sam Kooiker says the first ordinance, which was requested by the city’s garbage haulers, Schwarz Sanitary Service and DeKruif Disposal, will specify a certain type of garbage can that Sheldon citizens will be required to use.
Kooiker says the second of the ordinances will require more frequent collection of recyclables by Schwarz and DeKruif.
He says the City hopes to be able to reach an agreement with haulers that would provide more services for citizens when contract renewal time comes.
Kooiker says the new ordinances will take affect next July 1st, and he says citizens will be required to obtain the proper type of garbage can prior to that time.
