“Night Of The Notables” Goes Hi-Tech This Year

Sheldon, Iowa — Each April 6th graders at Sheldon Middle School present an evening called “Night of the Notables,” something that has been happening each spring for more than 20 years.

For the “Night of the Notables” students research notable individuals from around the world, create a biography over the person, and “become” the notable person (memorize speech, dress up as the person, deliver speech as the notable person). On an evening in April, the students invite the community to listen to their speeches at the school.

But this year, the students completed the research and paper just before the school was closed for the year.

Students worked weekly on their speeches to memorize at home. The week of this year’s intended performance. April 14th, students went online to create videos of their speeches.

Many students went above the asked requirements to create unique presentations. Creating models to show, using costumes and backgrounds, and using computer technology to make the viewer’s experience better.

The students worked very hard on these “Night of the Notables” projects, and we wanted to bring you a sampling of their finished products.
