Spencer, Iowa – No injuries were reported in a house fire Friday evening in Spencer.
The Spencer Fire Department tells us firefighters were called around 10:45 p.m. to 500 West 3rd Street in Spencer. Upon arriving they could see no smoke coming from the outside of the residence. Firefighters gained entry to the home and upon cutting a hole in the ceiling, found a fire burning in the attic. Two attack lines were deployed and the fire was extinguished.
Authorities say an occupant of the home was present at the time and managed to get out unharmed. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Spencer Police Department and paramedics from Spencer Hospital assisted on the scene.
