Northwest AEA Receives Donation For New Hearing Equipment

Sioux City, Iowa — An agency that serves northwest Iowa schools has received a donation to help their hearing testing program.

Northwest Area Education Agency or AEA has received a $15,000 donation from the LMEliason Foundation. The foundation was formed in memory of Logan Eliason, who had been hearing impaired and was diagnosed by AEA staff. Eliason passed away a few years ago at age 31 from cancer.

AEA staff say the donation has been used to purchase new hearing equipment. Staff at the AEA say they had been using the old equipment for the past 30 years, and in fact, had used that equipment to diagnose Eliason when he was a student. Staff members say the equipment is much smaller, so therefore more portable, and does more sophisticated testing.

Northwest AEA serves students and schools in Lyon, Osceola, Sioux, O’Brien, Plymouth, Cherokee, Woodbury, Ida, Monona, and Crawford counties.
