Orange City, Iowa – Northwestern College has been recognized as a best-in-class employer by Gallagher as part of the firm’s 2025 U.S. Benefits Strategy and Benchmarking Survey.
The designation recognizes organizations that demonstrate excellence in employee benefits strategy, workplace well-being, and cost management. Gallagher’s evaluation is based on a nationwide benchmarking analysis of employers, focusing on how organizations utilize benefits and people strategies to achieve measurable outcomes, including improved employee well-being and sustainable cost structures.
According to Gallagher, best-in-class employers prioritize employee health, financial confidence, and career development while maintaining long-term affordability.
Kent Wiersema, Northwestern’s vice president for finance and operations, says supporting and retaining employees is a key part of the college’s strategic planning efforts.
Gallagher evaluated participating organizations on factors including long-term benefits and compensation planning, well-being initiatives, employee turnover, workforce engagement, retirement planning support, and year-over-year health care cost performance. Northwestern’s results placed it among the nation’s top midsize and large employers.
