Northwestern To Host Theatre Camp For High School Students

Orange City, Iowa — If your high school student is into drama, maybe they’d be interested in a theatre camp at Northwestern College this summer.

Northwestern College officials tell us they will host a theatre camp July 5–8 for high school students interested in a variety of theatrical roles. The camp is open to students in grades 9 through 12 and costs $250 per student. The fee covers room and board, as well as access to campus facilities.

Northwestern officials say students will begin each day with warm-up games, followed by workshops on theatre skills such as acting, stage movement, and costume design. The afternoon will provide time for improvisation and scene work. The days will close with evening activities and community time in the residence halls. Participants will eat in Northwestern’s cafeteria.

Becky Donahue, Northwestern’s theatre department building and office manager says that they are excited to welcome high school students to Northwestern after the cancellation of last year’s camp due to COVID-19. She says that the faculty and staff are ready to work alongside students, sharing their knowledge and experience as theatre professionals.

For more information or to register, you can visit www.nwciowa.edu/theatre-camp or contact the theatre department at 712-707-7341. The registration deadline is Friday, June 4.
