O’Brien County EMA Hosts Active Attacker Drill At Sheldon Christian School

Sheldon, Iowa — The staff at Sheldon Christian School and emergency staff in the community had a chance to practice what they would do in the event of an active attacker this week.

The training was provided by O’Brien County Emergency Management. Director Jared Johnson tells us how it got started.

He says this week they were able to do a full-scale active attacker exercise at Sheldon Christian.

He says Sanford Sheldon staff also had a chance to practice their response.

Johnson says there are some new resources available on the web.

He tells us they have gotten away from calling it “active shooter” training because there are many things that an attacker could use besides a gun. Johnson encourages people to check out the resources available on the O’Brien County EMA web page.
