Sheldon, Iowa — The 2021 O’Brien County Relay for Life will take place this coming Tuesday, August 10th at the Lifelong Learning and Recreation Center on the campus of Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon. Organizers had originally planned to hold the event at the Orab Field track, but decided to return to the LLRC due to the hot temperatures that are forecast for Tuesday.
Cindy Runger is one of the organizers of the O’Brien County Relay for Life and she says it begins Tuesday evening at 5:00.
She says cancer survivors and their caregivers will take part in two very special laps around the LLRC track.
The final event of the evening will be the traditional Lumineria Ceremony in which illuminated bags bearing the names of cancer survivors, as well as those who have lost their battle, are placed around the track.
The 2021 O’Brien County Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society begins at 5:00 Tuesday evening. Please note the change of location, the event will be held in the Lifelong Learning and Recreation Center (LLRC), on the campus of Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon.
