Ocheyedan 4-H Club Helps Bring New Banners To Be Displayed In Ocheyedan

Ocheyedan, Iowa — The Ocheyedan Indians 4-H Club has teamed up with the Tracy House Museum to bring a new set of banners to be displayed in Ocheyedan.

We talked to Jodi Bremer of the Ocheyedan Indians 4-H Club, and she tells us the club became involved in the project after being approached by the museum.

Bremer says the first set of four banners feature the Ocheyedan 125th, the old school, the Ocheyedan Mound, and the old Ocheyedan Depot. She says that, unlike the old banners, the new ones are maintenance-free metal banners that should last a lifetime. The banners are fairly expensive, each of them costing more than $1-thousand, but will promote Ocheyedan’s history, as well as be a beautiful additions to Ocheyedan’s downtown.

Bremer says plans are in the works for four additional banners, which will honor the town’s original churches.

She says there’s currently a fundraising campaign being conducted to pay for the additional banners.

Bremer explains how the group is raising funds.

Bremer says donations can be dropped off at any Ocheyedan business, or you can call her at 712-461-0785, or you can send your donation to:
Tracy Museum
P.O. Box 454
Ocheyedan IA 51354

And, she says, you don’t have to be an Ocheyedan resident to contribute.

Bremer says she’s excited that the Ocheyedan Indians 4-H Club, who represent Ocheyedan’s future, are involved in this project to honor the town’s past.
