Sheldon, Iowa — A pickup truck that had been purchased this past Monday went up in flames Tuesday afternoon south of Sheldon.
Sheldon firefighters were called out around 4:00 pm Tuesday to the report of a pickup on fire at 370th Street and McKinley Avenue, or about 5 miles south of Sheldon on the County Line Road.
Sheldon Assistant Fire Chief Randy Harms says that when firefighters arrived on the scene, they discovered an older model GM pickup with a fire in the engine compartment. He says the fire was extinguished with about 1-thousand gallons of water, and firefighters were on the scene for about fifteen minutes.
Harms says there were no injuries in the incident, but the pickup, which had been purchased the day before, was considered a total loss.
