Rock Rapids, Iowa — A replacement has been selected to fill the shoes of former Lyon County Attorney Shayne Mayer.
In August, it was announced that Governor Kim Reynolds had appointed Mayer as a district court judge in Judicial Election District 3A.
The Lyon County Board of Supervisors has now offered the position to the assistant Plymouth County Attorney — Amy Oetken. Lyon County Auditor and secretary to the Board of Supervisors, Jen Smit tells us that Oetken will start December 1st. She says Oetken has served in the Plymouth County Attorney’s office for twenty-seven years.
The decision by the Lyon County Board of Supervisors to offer the position to Oeken was unanimous. Smit tells us Oetken will fill the remainder of Mayer’s term until December 31st, 2022, unless she decides to run in 2022 and is elected to the position.
