Primghar, Iowa — An O’Brien County nursing home faces more than a quarter of a million dollars in fines levied by the federal government.
The Iowa Capital Dispatch reports that Aspire of Primghar began racking up fines on January 17th, when the federal government began fining the facility $10,100 per day for each day they failed to meet minimum standards. The report states that the fine dropped to $550 per day on February 10th, and remains at that level, with the home allegedly still not in compliance.
According to the Iowa Capital Dispatch, the current fine is tied to 26 violations of federal nursing home regulations related to a wide variety of issues.
The report says the fine is one of the largest levied against an Iowa care facility in recent years, but is surpassed by a penalty levied last year against a Fort Dodge facility. The daily fine for the Fort Dodge facility eventually topped $695,000.
