Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon resident who had approached the City of Sheldon about locating a bottle and can redemption facility in downtown Sheldon, then withdrew her request before the issue was taken up by Sheldon Zoning Board of Adjustment has reportedly found a new location for her prospective business.
Sheldon City Manager Sam Kooiker says the City received an application from the resident to have a can and bottle recycling facility at 1313 2nd Avenue. The purchase of the property is contingent on the Zoning Board of Adjustment approving a special exception to allow “limited warehousing and distribution in the Arterial Commercial District,” which would allow the redemption business to locate in that facility.
Kooiker says a special meeting of the Zoning Board of Adjustment has been scheduled for Thursday, October 17th at 4:00 in Council Chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center.
