Northwest Iowa — Showers and storms will approach central South Dakota late this afternoon, spreading east across the region overnight. Locally heavy rainfall rates are possible with thunderstorms late tonight with a few locations expected to see over one inch of rain. Rain will linger in the region well into Thursday.
Cooler and dry today, before showers and storms spread through the region tonight and Thursday. An isolated strong to severe thunderstorm cannot be ruled out along the Missouri River tonight, but otherwise the threat for severe weather is low. Some locations may see over 1 inch of rainfall with storms late tonight through early Thursday. After a brief period of drier weather on Friday, the weekend brings additional rain chances and continued cooler than normal conditions.
