Sheldon, Iowa — RiseFest organizers were attempting to break a grim record at this year’s Christian music festival (and more) in Sheldon. But the goal wasn’t quite reached. However, a different record was broken.
Organizers of the two-day festival, which wrapped up on Saturday night were hoping to break a record set 100 years ago. The most people that had ever gathered in Sheldon was in 1924, when 25,000 people gathered for — of all things — a Ku Klux Klan rally.
Rise Ministries Founder and CEO Rob Roozeboom says they were hoping that RiseFest could at least attract 25,001 people and break the record.
The final tallies are in, and 23,970 people attended RiseFest 2024 — which is 1031 people short of the goal.
However, the 23,970 people WAS a new attendance record for RiseFest.
