Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon’s newest police officer was officially sworn in during Wednesday’s regular meeting of the Sheldon City Council.
Mayor Greg Geels administered the Oath of Office to Officer Zane Roberts.
Roberts began his duties with the police department last week. He is an academy-certified officer, who was formerly employed as an O’Brien County Park Ranger, as well as an Osceola County Sheriff’s Deputy.
In other action, the Council approved Northwestern Bank, Citizen’s State Bank, Iowa State Bank and Peoples Bank, all of Sheldon, as well as the Iowa Public Agency Investment Trust in Des Moines as depositories of City funds for 2022. They also approved the application of Harry Pederson to the Sheldon Fire Department, Jordan Lich and Hope Tjepkes to the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team, and Mark Kreykes to the Sheldon EMA Team.
The Council also held a public hearing on an ordinance amendment pertaining to ward boundaries, approved the reappointment of Micah Schreurs as City Attorney, and approved an early retirement agreement with Sheldon Police Officer Rob Hegenbarth. Hegenbarth has served with the police department since April 12, 1993.
