Rock Valley, Iowa — People in Rock Valley should probably use another source of water for drinking and cooking for now.
The City of Rock Valley Water Supply is recommending that people use an alternative source. Due to a pressure loss, bottled water should be used. Boiling is not advised as the system has nitrates and this will concentrate the nitrates. The water may be used for bathing and other similar purposes.
General guidelines on ways to lessen the risk of infection by microbes are available from the EPA Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1(800) 426-4791.
Bacteria samples will be collected. This advisory is a precaution until bacterial sample results are available.
The system is working with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to resolve the situation.
