Roos Laid To Rest Saturday Morning

Sheldon, Iowa — Nearly one hundred semi tractors and pickup trucks showed up Saturday morning to bid a final farewell to an Ashton teen who lost his life in a traffic crash in Kansas about a week ago.

Funeral services for 18-year old Jake Roos were held Saturday morning at Sheldon’s First Reformed Church. Prior to the service the semis and pickups processed past the church enroute to their reserved parking areea. Several hundred people gathered outside the church to witness the rolling tribute to a young man who is gone much too soon.

Following the funeral service, the funeral procession, led by a Sheldon police car, made its way south on Washington Avenue to 16th Street, where they turned east toward Country Club Road. The procession entered Highway 60 at the Country Club Road entrance, and proceeded to the Gilman Township Cemetery at Ashton, where Jake was laid to rest.
