Roundabout Scheduled to be Built at Highways 20 and 59 Intersection

Holstein, Iowa — One of the main entrance points in our area for a major thoroughfare in Iowa is getting an update.

A roundabout is set to be built at the Highway 20 and Highway 59 intersection near Holstein.

According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, the roundabout is being constructed due to the high number of crashes in that area. Work could begin in 2028 or 2029.

The project will be done in phases to limit the amount of detouring. The DOT hasn’t determined if there will be a detour during construction. The cost of the project is still being determined.

Holstein is about 40 miles west of Sioux City on Highway 20, or about 45 miles south of Primghar on Highway 59.
