Route Announced For RAGBRAI 2022

Statewide Iowa — The route for RAGBRAI 2022 was announced Friday night, with this year’s ride beginning about 35 miles south of the starting point for RAGBRAI 2021.

RAGBRAI 2022 will take a route through the northern half of the state, with participants Spending Saturday night, July 23rd in Sgt. Bluff, before departing Sunday morning, July 24th, heading southeast to Ida Grove, where they’ll spend Sunday night.

Monday morning, July 25th will find the riders pedaling northeast to Pocahontas, their Monday night overnight stop.

Tuesday morning will be a relatively short northbound trek from Pocahontas to Emmetsburg, where they’ll spend Tuesday night.

Wednesday, July 27th will be a long ride for RAGBRAI cyclists. That will be what RAGBRAI organizers are terming a “Century Day”, when the riders will cover 100 miles from Emmetsburg to Mason City, the longest day of the ride.

Ride organizers have scheduled a much shorter ride for Thursday, July 28th, with riders traversing the miles between Mason City and Charles City, their Thursday overnight stop.

On Friday, rides will depart Charles City, bound for their Friday overnight destination of West Union.

The final day of the ride will find cyclists pedaling from West Union to the final destination of Lansing, in far northeast Iowa.

The week-long RAGRAI 2022 ride will cover 430 miles, with 11,900 feet of climb over seven days.
