Sheldon, Iowa — Another major donor to the Sheldon Event Center project has been identified.
Sheldon Community Development Director Curt Strouth says that Sanford Sheldon has pledged $500-thousand to the project. Strouth says the pledge consists of $275-thousand to the initial campaign to construct the facility, along with a pledge of $225-thousand dollars for 10 years, or $22,500 per year, toward the facility’s operating expenses.
Sanford Sheldon’s $275-thousand dollar construction pledge brings the total amount pledged to the construction of the project to $963,100, according to Strouth, which includes the $500-thousand pledged by the Arlan Van Wyk family, which had been announced earlier this month.
Strouth says the City is now in the midst of a fundraising effort to obtain an additional $725-thousand for this project.
