Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon Community Ambulance Team Director Tracy Gorter is resigning from her position as Director of the ambulance team, effective May 1st.
SCAT EMT/Paramedic Coordinator Kevin Miller will become the new SCAT Director upon Gorter’s departure. Miller tells KIWA that Gorter will continue to be a SCAT volunteer following her departure from the Director position.
Gorter has been SCAT’s Director for two years, taking the position in April, 2016, when she replaced long-time SCAT Director Cindy Freeman.
Miller began his career with SCAT as a volunteer back in August of 2015. He was hired as SCAT’s full-time EMT/Paramedic Coordinator in July, 2016.
Miller tells KIWA that it had been the City Council’s intention to have the full-time SCAT employee become the ambulance team’s Director ever since they created the full-time position. Miller said they felt that now was the best time to transition to combining the position of Director with that of EMT/Paramedic Coordinator.
