SCDC Receipt Promotion Generates A Quarter MILLION Dollars In Receipts

Sheldon, Iowa — During the month of April, the Sheldon Chamber and Development Corporation conducted a Receipt Program designed to help Sheldon businesses who were dealing with closings, or limited services, due to the governor’s proclamations aimed at limiting the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The program was quite simple. Shoppers were asked to turn in their receipts from purchases at a Sheldon business, with the exception of gasoline or groceries, and they would receive a rebate of $10 in Sheldon Dollars for $100 on the turned-in receipts.

Sheldon Chamber Director Shantel Oostra says the program was a HUGE success.

(As above) “It was a huge success. We actually received over two hundred and fifty thousand dollars in receipts, which was crazy, and far more than what we thought we might be getting.”

She tells us about the Sheldon Dollars that were earned during the program.

(As above) “In turn, SCDC was able to send out over twenty thousand dollars in Sheldon dollars to be spent back at our local businesses.”

Oostra extends her thanks to the shoppers who took advantage of the Receipt Program, helping local merchants during that difficult period, as well as to those who helped fund the program.

(As above) “I just also want to give a thank you to those that assisted with funding our Receipts Program. The Sheldon Marketing Committee, D. K. Plastics, Fred’s Plumbing and Heating, Kent Nurtition, Maintainer, MidAmerican Energy, North Star Community Credit Union, Poppema-Sikma Construction, Premier Communications, Rome Grinding Solutions, Rosenboom Machine & Tool and Van Wyk Trucking. Thank you very much to them, for helping with additional funding for that program.”

She says April’sReceipt Program was successful beyond her wildest dreams.
