Schaeffer & Bernal To Reign Over Orab Homecoming Activities

Sheldon, Iowa — The Coronation Ceremony was held Tuesday evening to crown the King and Queen who will reign over the remainder of this week’s Homecoming festivities.

This year’s ceremony looked a little different that those in years past, as it was held outside at the Orab Football Field due to COVID-19.

The Homecoming Queen and King, as chosen by their peers, were Queen Maddie Scheaffer and King Brian Bernal. Maddie is the daughter of Jared and April Schaeffer, and Brian is the son of Ricardo and Gabina Bernal.

The remainder of the Homecoming Court is comprised of: Haley Christians and Evan Jungers.  Haley is the daughter of Robby and Amanda Christians. Evan is the son of Alan and Jill Jungers. Tori Fjeld, daughter of Dean and Tara field,  and Kalab Ackerman, son of Dave and Jenny Erkes and Terry and Chrissy Ackerman. Brooklyn Grady, daughter of Jesse and Jamie Grady, and Tye Sudbeck, son of Brad and Linda Sudbeck.  Brendan Cain, son of Kevin and Jane Cain and Emma De Kok, daughter of Joni  and Scott and Angie De Kok.

Coronation speaker was 1995 Sheldon graduate and founder of Rise Ministries, Rob Roozeboom. Clair Krogman and Rachel Maggert performed “Sweet Creature” by Harry Styles during the ceremony, as well. They both  played  ukulele to accompany their singing. Emcees for the coronation ceremony Maison Oostra and Ryer Dacken.

Keely Simonsen placed the crown on the head of this year’s Homecoming KIing, Brian Bernal, while Jack Bartz crowned Queen Maddie Schaeffer. Congratulations to both candidates who were crowned that night.

Sheldon’s dance team, under the direction of Georgia Walker, performed their, ” Ladies Mix, ” followed by an address from  Sheldon High School Principal, Mrs. Zeutenhorst. After Mrs. Z’s speech, the Orab cheerleaders led the audience in cheers to wrap up the Orab Homecoming 2020 Coronation Ceremony.
