Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Community Schools Board of Education issued teacher, co-curricular, and Summer Driver Education contracts, and increased Substitute Teacher pay for the 2018-19 school year at their regular monthly meeting Wednesday night.
The Board voted to increase Substitute Teacher Pay from the $125 per day they pay this school year, to $130 per day for the 2018-19 school year. In addition, the Board voted to increase the pay rate for Summer Driver Education Instructors by $5 per student. Those teachers, Chuck Johnson, Donna Nagel, Brad Zeutenhorst, and Kyle Zanakowski, will be paid $220 per student for 2018.
The Board authoritzed the issuance of contracts to the District’s teachers at Wednesday night’s meeting. To see the complete teacher salary list for the 2018-19 school year, CLICK HERE. In other action, the Board approved the contract with H & S Roofing Co, Inc., of Spencer, at a total cost of $166,018 for the Middle School Roofing Project. The roof replacement was made necessary due to hail damage, leaving the District’s insurance carrier to pay the lion’s share of the cost.
The Board accepted a pair of resignations at their Wednesday evening meeting, Erica Koedam resigned as Middle School Special Education Teacher to take a position in another community, while Rachel Iedema reisgned her position in the East Elementary Lunchroom to accept another Position with the Sheldon District, as a Special Educaiton Instructional Associate for 6 hours each day, at a rate of $10 per hour. Other contracts approved included Meghan Granstra as Middle School Special Ed Teacher at a salary of $43,452 for the 2018-19 school year. Brad Zeutenhorst as Head High School Baseball Coach at a salary of $5,787, Matt Dykstra, 9th Grade Baseball Coach at a salary of $2,894, Carla Kleinwolterink as Assistant Softball Coach at a salary of $3,858, Leon Kleinwolterink as 9th Grade Softball Coach at a salary of $2,894, Erica Koedam and Samantha Kleinwolterink as Middle School Softball Coaches, at a salary of $2,199 each, and Chris Walker as Middle School Baseball Coach at a salary of $2,199.
The Board set the date for a Board workshop during the meeting. That workshop will be held Thursday, March 22nd. They also set Tuesday, April 10th at 5:30 pm as the date and time for the Fiscal Year 18 Budget Hearing and Certification. That hearing will be held as part of the regular April school board meeting, which will begin at 5 pm on April 10th at the Sheldon MIDDLE School.
