Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Community Schools Board of Education will hold a pair of meetings this Wednesday evening.
At 6:00 pm Wednesday, the Board will hold their Annual Meeting, where they wrap up all of the business from the past year, including financial reports and the review of the vote count from the September 8th School Board Election.
At 6:30 Wednesday evening, the Board is scheduled to hold their Organizational Meeting, in which they’ll swear in Board members Mark Brown, Kecia Hickman and Jessica Brink. In the September 8th election, Hickman and Brown were elected to another term of office, while Board newcomer Jessica Brink was elected to her first term on the School Board.
The Board will also elect a Board President for the coming year. Kecia Hickman has served in that position for the past year. They’ll also elect a Board Vice-President at Wednesday’s meeting.
In addition, the Board will set the date, time and place for regular School Board Meetings throughout the coming year, appoint the District’s legal counsel for 2015-16, name the District’s Depository Banks for the next year, appoint Board Members to the O’Brien and Sioux County Conference Boards, and designate the Board representative to the Sheldon Education Foundation, along with numerous other items of business.
Wednesday’s meetings will be held in the library at the Sheldon Community High School, with the Annual Meeting at 6:00 pm, with the Organizational Meeting to follow at 6:30.
