Iowa — U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley’s (R-Iowa) staff will hold traveling office hours in 17 Iowa counties from May 20 – 23, 2024. Iowans seeking assistance with a federal agency or wishing to share their views on issues important to them may stop by during the scheduled hours listed below.
Grassley’s staff tell us the Senator will be represented by his regional directors: Matt Rector of Waterloo, Jacob Bossman of Sioux City, Noah Schrad of Des Moines and Jonathan Bladt of Council Bluffs. Grassley himself, however, will not be in attendance.
Grassley’s state offices regularly help constituents address issues regarding Social Security, military service, immigration, veterans’ benefits, IRS challenges, and other matters. Iowans can also seek assistance via Grassley’s website.
“Iowans are my top priority. Traveling office hours ensure Iowans’ concerns are heard and problems are addressed,” Grassley said. “My regional staff works hand-in-hand with Iowans to help navigate challenges they may be facing with federal agencies. I encourage anyone needing assistance to attend my staff’s upcoming office hours or contact my offices throughout the year.”
Grassley Regional Director Jacob Bossman will be the one doing the meetings in our part of northwest Iowa.
He says part of his job is to hold the annual open meeting, a traveling office hour, in each county to take opinions about the issues of the day and to help Iowans who are experiencing problems with a federal agency (IRS, VA, Social Security, immigration, etc.). He says Senator Grassley’s goal is to make sure the government is working the way it is supposed to. He understands it can be frustrating when a federal agency is not responsive to your concerns.
Bossman says Grassley “…will get a response, and many are favorable.”
Bossman tells us other types of services available include getting a milestone birthday greeting from Senator Grassley or the President of the United States, having a flag flown over the Capitol, arranging a Capitol tour, or providing information about military academies and internship opportunities.
He says if you are not able to attend, you can always reach him by phone at 712-233-1860, or visit or write the Sioux City office at: Office of US Senator Chuck Grassley, 120 Federal Building, 320 6th Street, Sioux City, Iowa 51101.
