Northwest Iowa — Thunderstorms are expected to redevelop across the area midday, then continue east with a cold front through early evening.
A few strong to severe storms are possible, with the threat for hail up to half-dollar size, winds to 65 mph and even a brief tornado. Be sure to stay weather aware and watch for development of storms this afternoon.
After some early day showers and storms, additional storms will develop around lunchtime and march eastward. Some of these storms will be capable of severe weather, with most storms exiting southwest MN and northwest IA by early to mid-evening. Saturday will be breezy and on the cool side, with plenty of sunshine. Don’t let that fool you though, as the chance for thunderstorms returns on Sunday, along with the risk for severe storms again in the afternoon and evening hours.
