UPDATE: Sheldon Area Ministerial Association To Hold Drive-In Church Service Easter Morning

Sheldon, Iowa — According to the ministerial association there will still be a drive in service Easter Sunday at 10 am snow or no snow. What has changed is that the pastors will move indoors at the Immanuel Christian Reformed Church south of the high school to conduct the service. The ministerial association is still encouraging people to drive to the high school parking lot and listen to the service on KIWA Radio.

The Sheldon Area Ministerial Association will be holding a special Easter Sunday Drive-In Worship Service at 10:00 am in the Sheldon High School parking lot. This service will be broadcast live on KIWA, AM-1550, FM-100.7, and FM-105.3.

Sheldon, Iowa — For the past several weeks area churches have been altering the way they bring their worship services to their congregants, with technology aiding in their efforts. And with Easter almost upon us, local pastors have come together to bring the community together, in a safe manner, to celebrate Easter.

Sheldon United Methodist Pastor Kevin Gingerich is also the President of the Sheldon Area Ministerial Association, and he tells us that the local pastors have come together to organize a very special Easter Sunday Service.

(As above) “I’m really happy that the ministerial association that we have here in Sheldon is superb and we like to come together to support each other but also to support the community and an idea was passed by us to all join together and have a live broadcast of our worship service and do a joint service at the high school parking lot and have one of those old drive-in theater kind of ideas were, instead of a drive-in theater we would have a drive-in church.”

Gingerich tells us what is planned for the Easter Sunday Drive-In Service.

(As above) “We’re going to be meeting at ten o’clock on Sunday morning Easter Sunday and we’re going to be treated to a service of worship there will be music led by the Bethel Church and there will be various speakers that will be bringing the sermon and children sermon and a lot of different things that were hoping many in our community will gather at the high school parking lot at ten o’clock and join us via their cars, not getting out of their cars.”

He says this Easter Sunday Drive-In service will allow the faith community to gather together on the most important day of the year for Christians.

(As above) “It is the quintessential celebration day of the Christian life, and it is why we are Christians. Celebrating the resurrection of our lord of our savior, and it’s a time that we all need to be together and in this time of not being able to be together physically, we can gather together in cars.”

In case of rain Easter morning, Pastor Gingerich says alternate arrangements have been made, and the service will still be held.

Rain or shine, the Sheldon Area Ministerial Association Easter Drive-In Church Service will start at 10:00 am Easter Sunday, April 12th, in the parking lot of the Sheldon High School. Just stay in your car, and tune your car radio to KIWA-AM 1550, FM100.7, or to KIWA-FM 105.3.
