Sheldon City Council Moves Forward With Rezoning Requests; Hears Reports From Departments For Capital Improvement Plan

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council met in regular session on Wednesday evening.

At the meeting, they approved the consent agenda. They also approved a new on-duty and off-duty death policy.

The council heard no comments during the public hearings on either of the rezoning requests — regarding the properties at 331 N. 5th Avenue and 415 West Park Street. They voted to have the first reading of the rezoning. The council also voted to approve resolutions and an ordinance for the rezonings, waiving the second and third readings.

The council spent a considerable amount of time hearing updates from several departments in regard to the Capital Improvement Plan. They heard from leaders of the Sheldon Crossroads Pavilion, the Sheldon Fire Company, the Sheldon Public Library, the Sheldon Police Department, the Sheldon Chamber and Development Corporation (SCDC), and the Public Works Department. If you are interested in what each department has on the horizon, the video of the meeting is available below.
