Sheldon City Council To Discuss Matters Pertaining To Proposed Restaurant In Sheldon Crossing Area

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will meet in regular session this Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 in the council chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center, downtown.

Items on their consent agenda are normally approved en masse with one vote unless one of the council members requests an item be removed from the consent agenda and that the item be considered separately. On the consent agenda this time would be measures to approve a Sheldon High School Prom Committee request for Saturday, April 20; pay estimates for the water tower project and the north hangar project at the airport; a resolution approving an agreement with Beck Engineering for Airport planning & engineering services; a resolution approving an Airport Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) agreement; a resolution approving a conflict waiver and engagement agreement with Ahlers & Cooney, P.C. for an NCC grant agreement regarding the TIF incentive for the Wellness Center (LLRC).

In new business, the council will consider proposed amendment No. 8 to the Amended and Restated Sheldon Urban Renewal Plan; consider recommendations regarding the proposed Backyard Brew restaurant/taproom in Sheldon Crossing; hold the first reading of an ordinance adding provisions pertaining to debt collections; and consider a resolution approving the contract for a manhole replacement project at 2nd Avenue and 7th Street, for which a detour for traffic on Old Highway 60 (2nd Avenue) will need to be in place for about three weeks.

The meeting will be at 4:30 this Wednesday afternoon at the Sheldon Community Services Center.
