Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will meet in regular session on Wednesday, June 18th, 2025. The meeting is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center, downtown.
On their consent agenda are the minutes from the previous meeting; the list of claims; financial reports; the authorization of a temporary closure of the east end of an alley near First Reformed Church for Vacation Bible School there July 6th through the 9th; the approval of SCAT applicant Dylan Marks; the approval of city cigarette permits for the next fiscal year; the approval of the renewal of the Eagles’ Club liquor license; wine permits for “Top Of Iowa Lucky Wife; LLC for both August 12-16 and Celebration Days; the authorization of fiscal year-end bill pay if necessary; the mayor’s reappointments to the Board of Adjustment, the library board, and the Museum Board of Trustees; resolutions approving the hiring of Pavilion Events Coordinator, Kayla Leikvold, Parks & Recreation Director, Alex Laughlin, a resolution setting wages and benefits; SCDC 2025 events, a pay applicaiton for the Upper Story 9th Street Project; and the acceptance of the resignation of Recreation Coordinator Evan Olesen, effective August 7th, 2025. Unless a council member requests an item on the consent agenda be pulled out to vote on separately, all these will be passed or denied with a single motion.
In old business, Cindy Harpenau will give a report and request funding.
In new business, the council will have the 3rd and final reading of ordinance amendments regarding water and sewer, and an ordinance implementing a stormwater fee. They will also consider the approval of a quote for Crossroads Pavilion storage, a request from De Kruif Sanition, the city’s Financial Policy, the Airport Master Plan, and rezoning of the property at 415 West Park Street.
The meeting will be at 4:30 p.m. this Wednesday in the council chambers on the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center at 416 9th Street in Sheldon.
