Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will meet in regular session at 4:30 p.m. this Wednesday afternoon in the council chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center across 9th Street from KIWA Radio.
On their consent agenda are the minutes from the previous meeting, the list of claims, financial reports, liquor license renewals for Hy-Vee and Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh, the approval of a fire company applicant, the confirmation of Mayor Greg Geels’ appointments to the Parks & Recreation Board, the Airport Commission, and the Cemetery Board, a termination agreement with the Sheldon Chamber & Development Corporation (SCDC) relating to a restricted funds agreement, the redirection of funds for other housing projects, a pay application for the upper story project, and a change order for that project. Unless a council member requests that an item be pulled out of the consent agenda to vote on separately, the entire consent agenda will be voted on in a single motion.
In old business, the council will have the 2nd reading of the rezoning ordinance to rezone 331 N. 5th Avenue and 415 W. Park Street. The council may choose to waive the third reading and approve the ordinance. They will also have discussions with the property owners regarding the details.
In new business, the council will consider the amended and restated Sheldon Urban Renewal Plan, will accept the presentation of the fiscal year 2025 audit, and will again discuss the capital improvements plan update. They will also hear various reports.
The meeting starts at 4:30 p.m. in the council chambers and is available on YouTube.
