Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will meet in regular session this Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 in the council chambers at the Sheldon Community Service Center on 9th Street, downtown.
Items on their consent agenda are normally approved with a single motion unless one of the council members wants to pull an item off of the consent agenda for further discussion or debate.
Several items are on the consent agenda, among them minutes, claims, a resignation from a Library Board member, a beer permit for Dollar General, a request from St. Patrick’s church to block off an alley this summer while they do a basement project, a request from Sheldon Christian School to close a portion of Garfield Avenue for a petting zoo event, a pay estimate for the Lewis & Clark connection project, resolutions regarding the Sheldon Upper Story Project Application for the corner HC Lane buildings, a resolution for Urban Renewal advancement of cost for $5,000 for Workforce Housing Tax Credit match for 320, 321 & 322 9th Street — that’s two H.C. Lane buildings and the former Vision Care – Jackrabbit Properties, a resolution approving a golf course usage agreement, a resolution approving Dianne Wolthuizen as a full-time SCAT EMT, and setting the hearing on a TIF application for Maintainer’s expansion.
In new business, the council will consider the amended and restated Sheldon Urban Renewal Plan, get an update, approve plans and specs and set bid opening and contract award dates for Oak Street, and hold a discussion regarding interest earnings and possibly give direction to staff.
Again, the meeting is at 4:30 this Wednesday afternoon at the Sheldon Community Services Center.
