Sheldon City Council Will Meet This Afternoon

Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council meets this afternoon, they will have several and varied items on their agenda.

On their consent agenda, items will include approving a new liquor license for The Train Station 2, a new restaurant moving into the former Old 60 Steaks & Chops location; authorizing placement of a Thank You to Veterans sign at City Park, approving a change order for North Hangar, approving payment for the 2nd Avenue Manhole Replacement Project, setting wages and benefits for fiscal year 2024-25, approving an engineering services agreement for culvert work at Wyman and 16th Street, and approving engineering services agreements for the 2024 patching project. Unless there is an objection, all these items will be approved with a single motion.

In old business, they will have the second reading of the ordinances on water and sewer rates. Council members may also vote to waive the third reading and approve the ordinances.

Under new business, the council will discuss whether to select ABDO for audit services. They will also consider the approval of a request for proposals for banking services; consider a resolution regarding garbage rates; consider insurance renewals; and present bids, hold a public hearing, and award a contract for the Oak Street Project.
