This event (Double-Double Duo) has been canceled.

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Civic Music Association season continues Sunday afternoon at Sheldon High School.

Their information says Double-Double Duo is about much more than coffee. Each duo member is a “double threat” on two instruments. Kornel Wolak plays both clarinet and piano and Michael Bridge plays accordions and piano. They are classically trained international soloists and “…use comedy, virtuosity and musical sensitivity to bring their broad repertoire to life.”

They tell us they tour in Europe, South America, and Canada, and are now touring the U.S. Double-Double Duo says they perform their all-original arrangements of classical showpieces, sensitive jazz ballads, and fiery folk music from around the globe.

The Civic Music Association 2019-2020 concert season began September 17th with a tribute to the music of John Denver, starring Jim Curry. A concert featuring the piano stylings of Jason Farnham in November was postponed and was ultimately changed. According to Sheldon Civic Music president Lyle Hollander, a snowstorm made it impossible for Farnham to come to Sheldon. But after that, around Christmas, Farnham became ill and has decided to leave the concert circuit.

Hollander says the concert has been replaced with one by jazz trio, Prime Time Trio featuring Bobby van Deusen. That concert has been scheduled for Friday night, April 24th, at the Sheldon Crossroads Pavilion. The concert series will wrap up on Monday, May 4th with Sundae & Mr. Goessl.

Again, this Sunday’s concert, featuring the Double-Double Duo, is set for 3:00 p.m. in the Sheldon High School auditorium.
