Sheldon Council Approves New Strip Mall

Sheldon, Iowa — During their regular meeting Wednesday, the Sheldon City Council approved a Contract for Development and Minimum Assessment Agreement for a new retail strip mall in the Sheldon Crossing area of eastern Sheldon.

The property where the facility is to be built is located to the east and south of McDonalds in eastern Sheldon. The retail strip mall is being planned by LK Enterprises, LLC, a corporation owned by Andy Lee and Kevin Kleinhesselink of Sheldon.

In other action, the Council approved a resolution consenting to the assignment of contract for development from Prairie Trail Village, LLC to Citadel 1, LLC. Citadel has been managing the property for several months, but needed the City’s consent to take ownership of the apartment and condominium complex. There was originally a Phase II of the project, and the Citadel representative who addressed the Council said Citadel wants to build Phase II, if the numbers work.

The Council also accepted the resignation of Haley Gurtler as Crossroads Pavilion Assistant General Manager, effective February 28th. And the Council approved the applications of Spencer Tischer to the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team, as well as the application of David Wiersma for a student position with SCAT.
