Sheldon, Iowa — It appears to be a fairly routine agenda that will come before the Sheldon City Council when they meet this Wednesday, August 4th.
The council is expected to adopt a resolution directing the acceptance of up to $3.5 million in capital loan notes to pay for the infrastructure project in the Crossroads North #2 area, as well as the new Sheldon Fire Department’s aerial ladder truck. A second resolution is also expected to be approved, this one to approve the Bond Disclosure Policy for the bonds.
In other action, the Council is scheduled to get an update on the aerial truck order, and receive a report from SCAT Director Krysten Haan about the ambulance team.
In addition, the Council will hear a report from Public Works Director Todd Uhl about the water conservation measures in the City of Sheldon. On June 9th Sheldon water users consumed just over 1.5 million gallons of water. At that time the City instituted a voluntary Water Watch to urge citizens to conserve water, saying that the City Water System could support about 1.1 million gallons of usage per day. Since that time, Sheldon residents have responded. The last time usage exceeded the 1.1 million gallon level was July 20th when we used 1.13 million gallons. Since July 21st we’ve used a total of about 12.85 million gallons of water, for an average daily use of approximately 988,460 gallons per day.
Wednesday’s meeting of the Sheldon City Council will be gaveled to order at 4:30 pm in Council Chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center, and is open to the public. Or, if you’d prefer, you can attend virtually through Zoom, by CLICKING HERE.
