Sheldon Council To Consider TIF Proposal

Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City council meets this Wednesday January 7th, they will be asked to consider an application for Tax Council ChambersIncrement Financing as well as consideration of a proposal for a new commercial development project. Other business will include the second reading of an ordinance change that would give the mayor and council more of a role in the appointment of police officers and supervision of the department.

The council will also be asked to make a decision related to the way the City’s expenditure on the demolition of the former bowling alley will be recovered.   This will be done through a tax assessment on the property.  It is up to the council to set the assessment schedule and the interest rate that will be charged.

Wednesday’s 4:30 meeting will be held in the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center.
