Sheldon Council To Hear Update On Lewis & Clark Water System

Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council meets this Wednesday December 18th, they will hear an update on the Lewis and Clark Water Project from executive director Troy Larson.  Current indications are that Sheldon could be hooked up to that system by the Fall of 2023.

The Council will also hold the third reading of the amended ordinance which would allow first floor residential use in the downtown business area, under certain conditions.

The Council is scheduled to hear the second reading of an ordinance amendment allowing second floor residential use in the Arterial Commercial district contingent on a special exception granted by the Board of Adjustment.

In other action, the Council will discuss recommendations from Iowa State University Extension regarding  public  comments at council meetings.  Currently, the public comment period is for non-agenda items only.  Under the ISU recommendation, comments would be allowed on all agenda items during that time, with the exception of public hearing topics.

At Wednesday’s meeting, the council is set to review the Budget Workshop Agenda.  The workshops are scheduled for January 21st and 22nd.

Wednesday’s city council meeting will begin at 4:30 in the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center.
