Sheldon Council To Take Up Varied Agenda At Wednesday Meeting

Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council meets in regular session this Wednesday afternoon (April 19), they’ll be taking up a varied agenda.

The meeting will begin with what’s called the ‘Consent Agenda’, a group of items that can be approved by a single vote of the Council. The Consent Agenda for Wednesday’s meeting will include: a resolution regarding a Golf Course Usage Agreement for Fiscal Year 23-24; a resolution regarding the allocation to the O’Brien County Economic Development for Fiscal Year 23-24; a resolution regarding an agreement with UDMO for Fiscal Year 23-24; a resolution on an update to the Children’s World Grant Agreement, and more. The Consent Agenda will also include setting a date and time for a Public Hearing on the Fiscal Year 23-24 Budget Amendment, as well as a resolution to ratify the offer to Recreation Coordinator Evan Olesen.

Under New Business, the Council will take up the introduction of an economic development proposal in an area southeast of the Highway 18 and 60 interchange. They’re also expected to consider a Resolution of Support and local incentive for the second phase of the Prairie Trail Project, which is south of Taco John’s. During Wednesday’s meeting , the Council is also scheduled to approve the Community Services Center Policy and Rates, hold the 2nd Reading of an ordinance amending the 2010 Sheldon Zoning Ordinance, and do a review of the City Code of Ordinances.

Wednesday’s meeting will be called to order at 4:30 pm in Council Chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center. The meeting is open to the public, but if you can’t attend in person, you can watch it online via YouTube Live.
