UPDATE: Sheldon Emergency Crews Called To Accident West of Town

Sheldon, Iowa — Three people were taken to a hospital after an accident on Saturday, September 24th, 2016 near Sheldon.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 11:02 a.m., 86-year-old Eldon Reyelts of Beaver Creek, MN was driving a 2009 Mercury Marquis westbound on Highway 18. They report that 59-year-old Marla Sas of Hull was driving a 2007 Buick Rendezvous eastbound on Highway 18 when the report says she crossed the center of the roadway and struck Reyelts.

Two Sheldon ambulances transported Sas, Reyelts and a passenger to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.

The Mercury sustained approximately $9,000 in damage. The Buick sustained approximately $8,000 in damage.

Sas was cited on a charge of failing to yield half of a roadway.

Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon emergency responders were called to the scene of a reported accident on Saturday morning, September 24th, 2016.

The call came in about 11:04 a.m. to an accident about a mile and a half west of Sheldon on Highway 18.

According to on-scene reports, it was a 2-vehicle head-on accident.

Reports indicate that several people were transported to Sanford Sheldon with undisclosed injuries by two Sheldon ambulances.

Highway 18 was closed for a period of time to allow emergency responders to attend to the injured and clear debris .

Responding to the scene were the Sheldon Fire Company, SCAT, Sheldon EMA, Sheldon Police, the Iowa State Patrol and the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
