Sheldon Firefighter Honored For 4 Decades Of Service

Sheldon, Iowa – A Sheldon firefighter, who has served at times as the department’s Chief and Assistant Chief, has been honored for his four decades of service to Sheldon and the surrounding area.

Sheldon Fire Chief Brad Hindt tells KIWA that Dennis Kruger joined the Sheldon Fire Company in 1984. Over the past 40 years, Kruger served, not only as a firefighter, but as the department’s Assistant Chief under the late Chief Jerry Meyer. Kruger then became the department’s Chief when Meyer passed away.

Kruger retired as Chief a few years ago, making way for current Chief Brad Hindt to take the top slot, but remained as a firefighter.

Kruger was recognized for his 40-years of service at the last Fire Department Meeting.
